WATCH: Look back on FP1 in Canada as Pierre Gasly comes to a standstill on track

Valtteri Bottas was the man to top the timesheets in FP1, but the session was heavily disrupted following a CCTV issue at the track in Canada. As a result, FP2 in Montreal will be extended by half an hour to 90 minutes in length, with the session now scheduled to start at 1630 local time.
While much of FP1 was spent with the cars in their respective garages, there were still talking points on the track. For Pierre Gasly, and Alpine, it was a less than positive start as the red flag was waved following a mechanical issue that brought him to standstill.
His car was eventually returned to the pit lane, as the mechanics set about fixing the issue, although there was no more running to come in the session.
The local wildlife also got plenty of time in the spotlight, with the groundhogs around the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve gracing the TV screen and social media.
