Daniel Ricciardo’s stint as a McLaren driver came to an end at last weekend’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and the team took him by surprise after the chequered flag with a flashback to the highlight of their time together.
A few seconds on from Ricciardo crossing the line in ninth place, he was told to dial in "Purple C1" on his steering wheel, which brought up a dash image of the team celebrating the Australian’s victory – and their one-two finish – at the 2021 Italian Grand Prix.

“That’s cool! That’s really nice. Thank you, guys,” said Ricciardo, who sounded taken aback, before race engineer Tom Stallard declared that “it’s been an honour” and “we’ve all enjoyed working with you”.
Ricciardo leaves McLaren after two seasons and will return to former team Red Bull as their third driver for next year.
