Charles Leclerc set the pace on the opening day of the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, going P3 in FP1 before topping FP2 ahead of team mate Carlos Sainz.
It was in that final session that Leclerc set the fastest lap of Friday running, his time of 1m10.902s just 0.154s faster than Sainz's best time. It was in this session, however, that Lewis Hamilton encountered a Mercedes engine issue and Red Bull's Max Verstappen was hampered by a red flag, limiting their chances to better the Ferrari drivers' lap times.

His early pace may or may not put Leclerc in the running for a third pole of the season at a Zandvoort circuit that had drivers raving about the new layout, with banked corners, high Gs and high speeds thrilling them on Friday, but we'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out.
