Williams boss Jost Capito won't return to Dutch GP paddock as a 'precaution' after contact with Raikkonen
Williams boss Jost Capito will not return to the F1 paddock at Zandvoort for the remainder of the Dutch Grand Prix weekend as a precaution, having met with Kimi Raikkonen – who tested positive for Covid 19 on Saturday morning.
Raikkonen, who announced on the eve of the race ay Zandvoort that he will retire at the end of the season, returned the result at an on-site test and will be replaced by Alfa Romeo reserve Robert Kubica.
The Finn had dinner with Capito on Friday evening. The team said the meeting took place in a “socially distanced manner” and therefore the Williams CEO is “not a close contact”.
Capito was retested and returned a negative result – but the British squad said “Jost and Williams have taken the decision as a precautionary measure to mitigate any potential risk to the team”.
Nicholas Latifi was the leading Williams in final practice at Zandvoort, the Canadian 12th in the classification, 1.460s off the pace and two places and two tenths of a second clear of team mate George Russell.
