Aston Martin hit the track at Silverstone as reserve driver Drugovich gathers more F1 mileage
Aston Martin broke the silence of the F1 break on Wednesday as they staged another test for reserve driver Felipe Drugovich, who continues his development programme with the team. They were joined by Alpine, whose reserve driver Jack Doohan also turned laps at Silverstone.
Reigning F2 champion Drugovich was last in action during pre-season testing in Bahrain when he stood in for the injured Lance Stroll aboard Aston Martin’s 2023 challenger.
This time, the Brazilian took the 2021-spec AMR21 around the Silverstone Circuit, completing an unspecified number of laps after rain initially disrupted proceedings at the British Grand Prix venue.
It follows on from a test at the same Northamptonshire track – located next to Aston Martin’s factory – in November, when Drugovich made his debut in F1 machinery and completed more than 300km of running to secure his Super Licence.
Aston Martin described the outing as “another valuable opportunity for Felipe to further his experience of F1 machinery, develop and grow his skills behind the wheel and further embed himself into the team”.

Alpine's reserve driver Doohan – who finished second in the F2 Feature Race at Jeddah but currently lies 11th in the standings – also took to Silverstone on Thursday.
The Australian took the wheel of an older-spec Alpine F1 car as part of his reserve driver programme.
