F1 NATION: Verstappen’s latest triumph, Alonso’s podium return and Mercedes’ struggles – our Sao Paulo GP review

Max Verstappen sealed an incredible 17th win of the season in the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, with Lando Norris taking second as Fernando Alonso battled it out with Sergio Perez to just about clinch his place on the podium. The F1 Nation crew is on hand to review all the events in Brazil, including why Mercedes struggled so much.

Tom Clarkson is joined by L’Equipe F1 journalist, Fred Ferret, and newly-crowned F3 champion, Brazil’s Gabriel Bortoletto, to look back on a dramatic weekend and conclusion to an action-packed triple header of races.

Verstappen’s latest triumph is very much up for discussion, as the Red Bull man keeps on notching up the victories, while Norris’ strong weekend also can’t be ignored.

Much of the talk following the race was focused on the incredible battle between Perez and Alonso at the end, with the Aston Martin man pipping the Mexican to P3 – and earning the team a much-needed boost after a tough last couple of races.

Mercedes’ performance in Brazil will be under the spotlight, with Lewis Hamilton, George Russell and Toto Wolff less than happy with how things panned out at Interlagos, while Ferrari also had struggles of their own, including Charles Leclerc’s inability to take the start after a mechanical failure on the formation lap.

Throughout this episode we’ll hear plenty of reaction – including from both Alonso and Norris – as well as Aston Martin Team Principal Mike Krack, Mercedes Technical Director James Allison, and P6 finisher Carlos Sainz.
