FACTS AND STATS: Ferrari become first constructor in history to hit 10,000 points

Ferrari’s home race didn’t go quite as they’d hoped, with Charles Leclerc forced to settle for second place behind Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. The Scuderia did, however, generate some impressive numbers at Monza. Here’s those – and a few others – in our round-up from the Italian Grand Prix…

• There have been 12 previous races that have finished behind the Safety Car, the most recent being Bahrain 2020 and Belgium 2021.

• Verstappen won from his seventh different grid position in a single season, extending a record he'd already broken at Spa.

• Verstappen’s 11th win of the year surpasses his total from 2021, with six races still remaining.

• Today was Verstappen’s fifth consecutive win – the longest streak of his career.

• Verstappen could now mathematically win the title at the next round in Singapore.

• Prior to today, Red bull did not have a podium finish at Monza in the hybrid era.

• Monza was the only circuit on which Verstappen had never finished on the podium.

• Charles Leclerc secured consecutive podium finishes for the first time since the first 3 races of the year.

• George Russell’s P3 finish was his seventh podium this year.

• It means Mercedes now have 13 podium finishes this year without a win – an F1 record.

• Russell moves to within seven points of Sergio Perez for third place in the drivers’ championship.

• Russell has now taken 15 top-five finishes in 16 races this year.

• Carlos Sainz took P4 for Ferrari, having started from 18th on the grid.

• Ferrari are the first team to surpass 10,000 points in their constructor history.

• Lewis Hamilton finished P5 from 19th on the grid – his best Monza finish since 2019.

• With P6 and an extra point for the fastest lap, Perez scored points at Monza for the ninth year in a row.

• Lando Norris was again P7 today and has now finished seventh at five of the last six races. He is also seventh in the championship.

• With P8, Pierre Gasly took only his second points finish in the last eight races.

• With P9, Nyck de Vries became the 67th driver to score on his F1 race debut and the first to do it driving a Williams since Nico Rosberg at Bahrain 2006.

• De Vries scored points for Williams after driving for Aston Martin in FP1 on Friday.

• With P10, Zhou Guanyu ended Alfa Romeo’s six-race point-less streak, which was the longest for any team.

• With Fernando Alonso failing to finish and Esteban Ocon in P11, Alpine failed to score for only the second time this year. Coincidentally, both races were in Italy (Imola and Monza).

• Alonso’s DNF ended his 10-race point-scoring streak on what was his 349th F1 start, tying Kimi Raikkonen’s total.

• Lance Stroll retired for Aston Martin – prior to today he was the only driver to be classified as a finisher in every race in 2022.
