FACTS AND STATS: Red Bull match McLaren’s all-time record of 11 straight wins

The Silverstone crowd were thrilled to have two British drivers on the podium, but the headline stats go to race winners Max Verstappen and Red Bull, who remain on course to potentially have the most successful season in F1 history. Here’s their numbers, and plenty more besides…

• With Verstappen’s win, Red Bull tie McLaren's all-time record of 11 consecutive wins set in 1988.

• Verstappen becomes only the fifth driver in history to have won six consecutive races, joining Alberto Ascari, Michael Schumacher (who did it twice), Sebastian Vettel and Nico Rosberg.

• It was also Verstappen’s 29th consecutive classified race finish, tying Daniel Ricciardo (Italy 2015 to Abu Dhabi 2016) for the longest-ever run by a Red Bull driver.

• Today was Verstappen’s 11th consecutive podium finish, meaning he is now tied for the fourth-longest run in history.

• Verstappen today achieved the eighth hat-trick weekend of his career (win/pole/fastest lap), tying him with Alain Prost and Sebastian Vettel for fifth in the all-time list.

• P2 for Lando Norris was McLaren's first podium at Silverstone since Lewis Hamilton finished second in the 2010 British Grand Prix.

• McLaren are the sixth constructor to finish on the podium this season – more than half of the grid.

• Norris’ P2 is his first-ever podium finish in a British Grand Prix.

• Norris also picked up the fan-voted Driver of the Day prize for the second consecutive race, with the highest share of the vote (45%) since Fernando Alonso at the opening round in Bahrain (53%).

• Second and fourth today, McLaren had not completed a single lap inside the top five this season until last weekend's Austrian Grand Prix.

• Hamilton’s P3 was his 14th podium finish at Silverstone, extending the all-time record he already held for a single circuit.

• It was also Hamilton’s fourth podium finish of the 2023 season.

• Two British drivers finished on the podium in a British Grand Prix for the first time since 1999, when David Coulthard was first and Eddie Irvine second.

• Oscar Piastri took P4 for McLaren, having not finished higher than eighth in any previous race this season.

• McLaren scored more points in this race (30) than in the rest of the 2023 season combined (29).

• In P5 for Mercedes, George Russell scored points at home for the first time in his career.

• Sergio Perez took P6 for Red Bull, having started 15th on the grid.

• Fernando Alonso’s P7 for Aston Martin was his 10th consecutive points finish.

• Alex Albon’s P8 was the best result for Williams in a home race since 2015, when Felipe Massa was fourth and Valtteri Bottas fifth.

• Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc took P9, the first time he's finished outside the top four at Silverstone in his last six visits.

• Team mate Carlos Sainz was P10, meaning he has only failed to score points once this year (due to a post-race penalty at the Australian Grand Prix).

• Logan Sargeant took P11 for Williams, his best career result to date.

• Valtteri Bottas finished P12 for Alfa Romeo, having started last on the grid.
