FACTS AND STATS: Red Bull’s run finally ended and Lawson takes maiden F1 points

Just for once, in Singapore the post-race numbers were not all about Red Bull racking up more records, as the world champions were finally toppled by Ferrari. There was still plenty to talk about, however, including one rookie scoring his first Marina Bay points, and another his very first F1 points…

• Today was Carlos Sainz’s second career win after his victory for Ferrari in the 2022 British Grand Prix

• It ended Red Bull's record streak of 15 consecutive wins.

• It was Ferrari’s fourth win at Marina Bay following their triumphs in 2010, 2015 and 2019.

• Sainz had not finished on the podium this year until the previous round at Monza in Italy.

• Lando Norris taking second place was McLaren's first podium in Singapore since 2012.

• It was Norris’ third podium of 2023, putting him only one short of his best-ever season total (four in 2021).

• Lewis Hamilton’s third place for Mercedes was his first podium finish since Silverstone, five races ago.

• As a result, Hamilton moves into the top three in the drivers' championship for first time since the opening race of last season.

• In the second Ferrari, Charles Leclerc made it back-to-back fourth-place finishes after also taking P4 in Monza.

• After a hugely disappointing weekend for Red Bull, Max Verstappen’s record-breaking winning streak was ended after 10 Grands Prix

DRIVER OF THE DAY: Sainz gets your vote after scintillating Singapore win

• Red Bull failed to win for only the second time in the last 26 Grands Prix.

• At Alpine, Pierre Gasly scored his best-ever finish in Marina Bay with P6.

• It was also the best finish for the team in Singapore since 2017.

• McLaren’s Oscar Piastri finished his first Singapore GP in P7 for his sixth points finish of the season.

• That was after he was eliminated in Q1 during qualifying yesterday.

• Red Bull’s Sergio Perez – who led the 2022 Singapore GP from start to finish – came home in P8.

• With P9 for AlphaTauri, Liam Lawson secured his maiden points finish in Formula 1 – it was also the first time this chassis has scored points in 2023 (neither Nyck de Vries nor Daniel Ricciardo scored with it).

• In his first three F1 starts, Lawson has finished 13th, 11th and ninth.

• Lawson becomes the 350th driver to score points in a Formula 1 World Championship event.

• At Haas, Kevin Magnussen’s P10 matched his best result of the year (he also finished 10th on street circuits in Jeddah and Miami).

• It was the Haas team’s first points-finish in a Grand Prix since Miami (their only points since then came in the F1 Sprint in Austria)

• With P15 for Aston Martin, Fernando Alonso failed to score for the first time in 2023.

• After crashing his Mercedes in the final lap, George Russell was classified in P16 and failed to score for the second time in the last three races.

• After a technical failure on his Alpine, Esteban Ocon failed to finish on what is his 27th birthday.

• AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda suffered an early DNF and has not completed a racing lap at the last two consecutive races (he failed to start the last round at Monza).
