No shock in seeing Max Verstappen on pole for his home race in the Netherlands, but all eyes will be on the P2 McLaren of Lando Norris and the P3 Mercedes of fellow Brit George Russell when the lights go out at Zandvoort this afternoon.

Could they get the jump on the reigning world champion? And don’t discount Alex Albon, who qualified a career-best fourth after a stellar qualifying session for Williams, which also saw Logan Sargeant make the top ten.

In the lower half of the grid, Lewis Hamilton will be one to watch after a disappointing Saturday left the Mercedes star 13th on the grid, while AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda takes a three-place drop to P17 after impeding the seven-time champion.

And finally, Kevin Magnussen – originally 18th for Haas – will now start from the pit lane after multiple power unit elements were changed on his car. That means Daniel Ricciardo substitute Liam Lawson will start his maiden Grand Prix from 19th.
