WATCH: Magnussen crash ends week 1 of Haas's pre-season test early

Haas's first week of pre-season testing ended early as a puncture sent Kevin Magnussen spinning into the barrriers on Day 3 in Barcelona.

Team boss Guenther Steiner revealed a broken wheel spacer left the tyre rubbing against carbon fibre, causing a puncture which pitched Magnussed into a spin and into the wall at Turn 8 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

The car was recovered back to the garage on the back of a truck, but the crash signalled the end of the day's running for the American outfit, meaning they ended this trio of pre-season testing days with the fewest laps under their belt of all 10 teams – finishing with a total of just 316.

After the session Steiner said: "For sure you always want to drive more and for sure we miss the hours at the end, but I won’t be standing here and crying about the three hours of testing we missed.

"All in all we had a good week. We have a lot of data crunching going on over the next few days and then come here again and try some more stuff and try to get even quicker."

The early finish left Magnussen with a Day 3 tally of just four laps after Romain Grosjean took the wheel in the morning. But the Frenchman had his own brush with the wall on Thursday
