‘We had a lot of fun’ – Father-son Magnussen duo impress with top-10 finish in Gulf 12 Hours
Kevin Magnussen described a “really cool” weekend at the Gulf 12 Hours after racing to seventh position aboard a car he shared with his father Jan.
Current Haas F1 driver Kevin and former McLaren and Stewart racer turned GT star Jan teamed up for the endurance event at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit in an MDK Motorsports-run Ferrari 488 GT3.
After securing 15th on the grid in a 34-car field, Danish pair Kevin and Jan, and their American team mate Mark Kvamme, rose all the way up the order to seventh position, finishing two laps off the lead.
“It has been great to spend the weekend like this with my dad; we had a lot of fun. We have been talking racing all our lives and doing this, you go another level deeper, which is really cool,” Kevin was quoted by the official Gulf 12 Hours website.
The event was won by two drivers with F1 experience in Antonio Fuoco and James Calado alongside Alessandro Pier Guidi, with the trio driving for Francorchamps Motors-run Ferrari 488 GT3.

Fuoco is a previous member of the Ferrari Driver Academy and had previously taken part in a two-day test in Austria back in 2015 and the Young Drivers test in Abu Dhabi in 2020 and 2021. Calado, on the other hand, served as third driver for Force India in 2013 after also taking part in a Young Drivers Test at Silverstone.
Kevin, Jan and Kvamme will team up again early next year when they tackle the 24 Hours of Daytona on the weekend of January 28-29, just under a month before F1 pre-season testing begins.
