FACTS AND STATS: Triumphant Verstappen surpasses Vettel’s Red Bull win record
Monaco rarely fails to deliver drama and the 2023 edition was no exception. None of it could upset Max Verstappen, though, as the world champion added a few more amazing numbers to his and Red Bull’s record books. But there were also plenty of stats to marvel at further down the order too…
• Verstappen’s victory means Red Bull are unbeaten in Monaco in this decade after their third consecutive win here.
• Verstappen’s 39th win for Red Bull is a new team record, surpassing Sebastian Vettel's 38 victories.
• Verstappen is yet to finish lower than second in a Grand Prix this season.
REPORT: Verstappen beats Alonso to Monaco GP victory despite rain causing late drama
• Verstappen led the 2,000th lap of his F1 career today, making him the seventh driver in history to reach that landmark.
• Red Bull passed Lotus (5,623 laps) for fifth on the all-time laps led table today.
• Fernando Alonso - at 41 years old - is the oldest driver to finish on the podium in Monaco since Jack Brabham in 1970.
• Alonso’s second place was his best finish since the 2014 Hungarian Grand Prix, where he was also second.
• It was Alonso’s fifth podium finish in Monaco, but his first there since 2012.
• His third place for Alpine was Esteban Ocon’s third career podium after Sakhir 2020 and Hungary 2021.
• It was also the first Monaco podium for the Enstone team since Robert Kubica finished third in the 2010 race when they were known as Renault.

• Ocon is the first Frenchman to finish on the podium in Monaco since Olivier Panis won the 1996 race.
• Today was the 50th race for the Alpine name in F1.
• The top three finished in the order that they started the race.
• Lewis Hamilton’s P4 finish was his best result in Monaco in this decade.
• Hamilton has only finished higher in one race this year (second in Australia).
• Mercedes team mate George Russell’s P5 gave him consecutive top-five finishes for the first time this year.
• Russell has finished in the same position in Monaco for the past two years running.
• Charles Leclerc’s P6 for Ferrari was only his second top-six finish of the season (he was third in Azerbaijan).
• Pierre Gasly’s P7 was his best result since joining Alpine at the start of 2023.

• Carlos Sainz finished in P8 for Ferrari and has now scored points in all eight of his Monaco Grand Prix starts.
• It was, however, Sainz’s worst Monaco result since 2018.
• With P9 for McLaren, Lando Norris scored points in Monaco for the third year in a row.
• His team mate Oscar Piastri followed him home in P10 for his second career points finish.
• At AlphaTauri, Nyck de Vries took P12 – his best result of the season – and moved off the bottom of the world championship table.
