It was trophies galore at Yas Marina on Sunday as Lewis Hamilton was handed the 2015 DHL Fastest Lap Award and Ferrari collected the 2015 DHL Fastest Pit Stop Award.

“I am delighted to have won the DHL Fastest Lap Award again in 2015,” said Hamilton, who also secured the prize last season. “It caps a phenomenal year for everyone in the Mercedes team.

“Winning the FIA Formula One Drivers’ World Championship and the constructors’ title, and setting fastest lapeight times along the way - this all reflects the hard work and competitive spirit that define the team.”

The DHL Fastest Lap Award was established in 2007 to recognize the driver who most consistently demonstrates pure speed, with the fastest lap at the highest number of races each season.

“It’s a great honour to present the DHL Fastest Lap Award to Lewis Hamilton for the second year in a row,” commented Nour Suliman, CEO, DHL Express Middle East & North Africa. “Speed and the desire to be first across the line every time are attributes that resonate very closely with DHL, both in our daily business and in our role as Official Logistics Partner of Formula One.

“Lewis Hamilton’s determination and constant pursuit of excellence are an inspiration to 325,000 men and women in DHL red and yellow around the world.”

Ferrari, meanwhile, became the inaugural recipients of the DHL Fastest Pit Stop Award, which was established this year to recognize outstanding teamwork and performance from the ‘unsung heroes’ who make a critically important contribution to the drivers’ success on the track.

“Congratulations to Scuderia Ferrari, and in particular their pit crew, for delivering consistently high performance in support of their drivers,” said Suliman. “In elite motor racing, as is often the case in logistics, great is in the detail - every fraction of a second counts.

“We at DHL recognize better than most the effort, dedication and skill that goes into achieving this level of service, and we are delighted to have this opportunity to recognize the Ferrari team for their hard work.”

With the fastest pit stop at an unbeatable seven of 2015’s 18 rounds to date, Ferrari won the award ahead of Red Bull and Mercedes, who have recorded the quickest stop at four and three races respectively so far.
