Carlos Sainz has voiced his belief in the Williams project after signing a multi-year deal with the squad for 2025 and beyond, with the Spaniard keen to put the team “back where it belongs”.

After months of speculation over his future, it was confirmed just one day after the Belgian Grand Prix that Sainz will join the Grove-based outfit next year, where he will partner up with Alex Albon as the team look to work their way back towards the front of the pack.

Sainz previously talked of the stress that the decision was causing him – with his move thought to be the “cork in the bottle” of the driver market – but, speaking on his social media channels after the announcement had been made, the Spaniard reiterated his belief that he has made the correct call.

“As you guys know, it’s been a tense few months, combining racing with having to decide my future,” Sainz explained. “But now I’m 100% committed and confident that Williams is the right place for me to spend my next few years.

“I really believe in the project, I really believe in the progress that has been done, and from the 1st of January of 2025 I will be pushing flat-out to try and bring this team back where it belongs.”

However, given that he still has 10 races remaining as a Ferrari driver, the 29-year-old is also focused on ending his time with the Scuderia on a high.

“Now it’s time to go and get some rest, there is the summer break,” he added. “I’m going to charge my batteries, there’s still a lot of races left with Ferrari that I want to give my absolute best for. I’ll try to get some more wins and some podiums before the end of the year.”
