The hegemony of Mercedes drivers claiming the drivers’ championship in the turbo-hybrid era was broken in dramatic fashion after a thrilling finale to the 2021 season in Abu Dhabi, with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen emerging victorious over Lewis Hamilton.
Still basking in the afterglow of claiming his first ever World Championship – and the first for Red Bull since 2013, and the first for Honda since 1991 – Verstappen sat down with Will Buxton at Yas Marina to reflect on a whirlwind 2021 season.
