TECH WEEKLY: The key benefit of McLaren’s new rear wing in Brazil that couldn’t be utilised in the race
Share
In Brazil last weekend McLaren introduced a new medium downforce rear wing and two accompanying beam wing choices. The new wing – with the lower downforce version of the new beam wing – was on the car as the team took a one-two in the Sprint race, having locked out the front row of Sprint qualifying.
But with heavy rain falling for the rest of the weekend, a higher downforce version of the same wing was used throughout Sunday, albeit still with the lower downforce version of the two alternative beam wings available. With this wing combo, Lando Norris set pole but finished only sixth in the race.
