Driver bombshells aren’t so rare in F1. This year it’s Lewis Hamilton’s impending switch from Mercedes to Ferrari at the end of the year. Thirty years ago it was his hero, Ayrton Senna, who was making the headlines.
But in his case it was a matter of whether the Brazilian triple champion would actually race or emulate his sometime nemesis Alain Prost and take a sabbatical, or head to Indycars.
