Verstappen goes ‘back to the roots’ as he reveals helmet design for 2025 season

Reigning World Champion Max Verstappen has shared a revised helmet design – and the story behind it – in the build-up to the 2025 Formula 1 season.
Going “back to the roots” with a design that is “as simple as possible”, the Red Bull driver has taken influence from his karting days and his father Jos’ original design.
Jos raced in F1 through the 1990s and early-2000s, representing the Benetton, Simtek, Footwork, Tyrrell, Stewart, Arrows and Minardi teams, and scoring two podium finishes.
Max has added to the family’s motorsport legacy since arriving in F1 as a teenager in 2015, achieving a whopping 40 pole positions, 63 race wins, 112 podiums and four world titles so far.
Ahead of his latest title defence, and his bid to join an exclusive club of five-time champions alongside Juan Manuel Fangio, Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton, Verstappen has decided to roll back the years.
“This is how I started racing when I was four years old,” said Verstappen, referring to the basic design he used while karting. “It’s basically my dad’s design and definitely something that I’m very proud of.

“When I started racing, my dad’s design was something very important to me. That was the helmet I really liked, which I was very proud to wear.”
He added: “I’ve tried to keep it as simple as possible, which I enjoy, with of course the lion on the top. Little details have changed, but in general it’s back to the roots. It’s definitely, let’s say, our family’s design. I’m very happy with it.”
