2019 FIA Formula One World Championship
The 2019 F1 race calendar marked the 70th running of the world championship. Ferrari were pre-season favourites, but Mercedes won the opening eight races, the first five with one-two finishes. With Lewis Hamilton, the Silver Arrows went on to secure a record sixth consecutive championship double, though they didn’t have things all their own way. Ferrari’s rising star Charles Leclerc eclipsed veteran team mate Sebastian Vettel to score his first two Grand Prix victories, while Max Verstappen and Red Bull put Honda back atop an F1 podium on three occasions.
